I WAS IN ABOUT 6TH GRADE WHEN I REALIZED MY FATHER SERVED IN WWII. HE HAD A TELEGRAM I FOUND, ONE SAYING HIS BROTHER HAD BEEN KILLED IN THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE AND ANOTHER THAT HIS BROTHER IN LAW HAD BEEN PARALYZED FROM A BULLET WOUND TO THE SPINE WHILE SERVING AS A GUNNER IN FRANCE. I WOULD LIKE ANYONE WHO KNEW HIM TO CONTACT ME. THERE ARE SO MANY QUESTIONS I HAVE ABOUT LIFE DURING WAR. I ALSO HAVE A NEWSPAPER ARTICLE HE CARRIED IN HIS WALLET SAYING THE USS SAN JUAN WAS THE FIRST SHIP INTO JAPAN TO PICK UP PRISONERS OF WAR.
